WAYAN by Cedric Vongerichten THE NAME IS THE SAME. THE TALENT MUST HAVE SKIPPED A GENERATION. Everyone was talking about WAYAN, so of course we wanted to try it. And I love Vong’s food.

Wrong Vong, which we knew, but not even close. There is a narrow hallway with a kitchen pass through from the front of the restaurant to the back. The back is the main dining room. The place is very well done. The walls and the plants and the dinnerware and the cutlery. All top notch. We had a little problem securing the table we wanted. Eventually we got it although it should not have taken so long and so many conversations with so many people. We asked for the manager and it was done. Why should my husband face a wall when there were round corner tables available. It was Sunday evening at 5:30 and we were the first ones in the restaurant as they literally unlocked the door at 5:28. Service is good although they do NOT pay attention. We ordered 6 small plates, one large and one side. We asked them to bring three and three and then the entree and the side. So, they brought four dishes and the server behind him had another two dishes in his hands. We sent them back and told them we would ask for them when we were ready. At their rate we would have been out of the restaurant in 30 minutes, and we think that was what they were looking for. TURN THE TABLES. The food was uneventful at most. We had a good bottle of Chardonnay. See the menu.
